Chang’an Guard Armoured Vehicle Makes Its Debut in Xi’an

At the 13th Public Security New Media Partners Conference held in Xi’an on 11 October 2025, the physical form of the ‘Chang’an Guard’ mech was officially unveiled to the public. It became the most eye-catching focal point of the event, signalling a new phase in the innovative integration of police publicity and cultural IP.


The name ‘Chang’an Guard’ derives from the Chinese aspiration for enduring peace and stability. Its imagery ingeniously blends elements of Tang Dynasty armour with modern mech-inspired technology, giving rise to a series of distinct personas including the ‘Chang’an Guard · Police Officer’, ‘Chang’an Guard · Traffic Police’, and ‘Chang’an Guard · Special Police’. These vividly embody Xi’an Public Security’s mission to ‘guard the ancient city’s peace’, infusing policing with cultural resonance and contemporary flair. Since its unveiling, the Chang’an Guard has garnered favourable public reception, signifying that this emblem of traditional Chinese culture will now undertake broader policing outreach duties. During the event, the Chang’an Guard mech’s presence drew crowds through interactive displays and cultural merchandise exhibitions. This innovative cultural expression has broken through traditional promotional barriers, proving particularly popular among younger demographics while enhancing the public security force’s approachability and appeal.

The launch of the Chang’an Guard represents a significant exploration by Xi’an Public Security in innovating urban governance and forging a new emblem for the city. The debut of this mecha series showcases the public security system embracing the new era with openness and innovation, narrating police stories in a manner popular with the public while safeguarding the prosperity and tranquillity of Xi’an, this millennia-old capital. Simultaneously, it enhances the cultural IP’s capacity to bear meaning, expands the boundaries of culturally-attributed IP, serving not only as a vessel for technological aesthetics and an interface for cultural heritage, but also as a powerful bond fostering mutual understanding between police and citizens.

The design employs three classic colour schemes: jet black with deep purple, creamy white with neon green, and inky black. These respectively represent the police, traffic police, and special police functions, exuding an imposing and commanding presence that instils complete confidence in public safety.

Moving forward, this IP will be deeply integrated into Xi’an’s landmark scenic areas. Through mecha parades, themed cultural creations, and cultural-tourism interactions, it will achieve a profound fusion of policing outreach, cultural preservation, and tourist experiences, injecting fresh momentum into the city’s development.
